Why review your year?

Growth is only possible through awareness and integration.

Most New Year's resolutions are forgotten by February.

Not because people lack willpower. Because they skip the part that makes change possible: looking honestly at the year they've lived, and letting it land.

Reviewing the year I've lived, and then consciously designing the next one, is one of the most powerful practices I know. Together with meditation, it has shaped my life more than anything else. I've hosted this journey many times since 2019.

It can be done alone. But alone, there is resistance. Some truths stay unexpressed. And what you see doesn't quite land, because no one witnessed it.

In a circle, you hear others and recognize yourself. You say what you wouldn't have said to yourself. You commit, and you are witnessed.

It can be humbling, beautiful, difficult, and so rewarding.

Is this for you?

Who this is for

  • You sense that the year you've lived deserves more than a quick glance back.
  • You've made resolutions before, and watched them fade.
  • You're at a turning point, or you feel one coming.
  • You want to begin the year awake, instead of busy.
  • You'd love to do this in good company, with people who take it to heart, and keep it playful.

Who this is not for

  • If you're looking for a quick fix, five steps to fulfillment, this will disappoint you.
  • If you prefer comfort over truth, this may feel too edgy.
  • If you expect the answers to be easy and obvious, without the messy parts, this will frustrate you.
  • This journey is not therapy, and doesn't replace it. If you're in acute crisis right now, this isn't the right container. If you're unsure, write to me.

How it works

Over two weeks, you take eight steps, one at a time. You work at home, with pen and paper, at your own pace. Each step takes about an hour. The first one asks for more: give it an evening.

Review

Remember the year you've lived, and mine it for insight.

  1. What has happened?Your year, month by month: where you were, who with, how it felt.
  2. Peaks & ValleysWhat stood out, the high points and the hard ones.
  3. More, Keep & LessSorting what you want more of, what to keep, and what less of.
  4. People MapThe people of your year, and how close you want them.
  5. The Bigger PictureWhat the year meant, what you avoided, and what was missing.

Design

Imagine what's possible, and anchor it in who you are.

  1. Vision MeditationA guided journey to a future you'd love to live.
  2. Vision BoardThe year ahead in images, colors and doodles. No words.
  3. Future State & FocusWho you are this year, in your own sentences, read out loud.

Between the steps, you have company

A reflection buddy, a WhatsApp group, and personal replies from me.

What you leave with

Three live sessions

On three Sundays, we meet on Zoom for an hour to an hour and a half. The sessions aren't recorded. They're about sharing time and space, together.

They're not required: you can do all the work on your own. But they deepen the experience greatly, and I highly recommend them.

About sharing

You choose what you share, and how much. Listening is enough. We share in small rooms of three. What is said in the circle stays in the circle.

What stayed with people

The first thing that comes to mind is: I want to do it again. Having a container to dream, and being witnessed in it, that was probably the greatest value. Going into that process not alone.

In a million years, I would not have dreamed that the retreat would lead me to actually quit my job. I felt so like ecstatic and I was like, fuck yeah, I’m going to do this.

I had so much fun and really enjoyed the process. Thank you for creating it and bringing us together to reflect and design! Would I recommend it? I already have :) It opened up some new thinking pathways for me as well.

I found the process very valuable. It really gave context to my life. And I found the exercises incredibly powerful.

That year was profound for me. I wanted to create a real change between what was and what's to come, and I know you are the man of rituals.

Thank you so much for a wonderful virtual retreat. It was a very nourishing process and I appreciate all your work in creating it.

The embodied practice really stuck with me (even after two years), as did the visualization of a perfect day.

I came to ask you something, and in your presence I just started to cry. You hold a space of wholeness, where everything is welcome.

When I asked who would recommend it to a friend, everyone who answered said yes.

Your host

I'm Joachim. I facilitate retreats, workshops, and one-on-one sessions: spaces where people slow down, feel what is true, and meet their own process with more honesty and ease.

I trained for years as a classical composer and singer before this work found me. These days it draws on contemplative practice, somatic awareness, conscious movement, and deep inquiry. I'm not a guru or a therapist, just a fellow traveler on the path.

What I promise, and what I don't

I won't promise transformation. No one can.

What I can promise: a rigorous, beautiful process, refined over many years. A circle of fellow travelers, people worth saying true things to. And my full attention, my presence, and my truth.

Questions

My year was really hard. Is this for me?

Yes. Avoiding reflection and growth because the process involves pain only makes the suffering worse. You may need to take more time, and you can.

I'm not creative. What about the vision board?

Creativity is a human trait. If you allow yourself to just make something, anything, that represents what you desire in your life, you've succeeded. Worst case, you end up with some scribbles. But they'd be your scribbles. There are no wrong outcomes.

Do I need to be spiritual?

That depends on what you see as spiritual. For me, anything that makes me reflect on my place in the world and the meaning of what I do is, in essence, spiritual. So you could say this is a spiritual process, and it works whether or not you consider yourself spiritual.

Can I do this with my partner or a friend?

Yes, absolutely! It actually makes it a lot better. Bring your friends!

I don't remember much of my year. Can I still do this?

Yes, definitely. That's part of the reason I created this process: I had the same problem. It's always surprising to see what comes up along the way.

What if I fall behind, or life gets busy for a few days?

That's totally fine. You can do all the steps at your own pace. And you can still join the live calls and simply witness, for inspiration and belonging.
